The People

Volksläufe means People's Race in German; and the Volksläufe is truly a reflection of its name. Runners, Walkers, Volunteers, Spectators, and Sponsors make up a multifaceted web of support that continue to excel the Volksläufe as one of Michigan's finest Road Races.

The Volksläufe annually hosts 2,000 to 2,500 race participants. Weather you walk, jog, saunter, or run across the Finish line a hardy congratulations for everyone who puts one foot in front of the other and works towards their personal goals of completion for the Volksläufe.

From passing out water at Aid Stations to cleaning up, Volksläufe Volunteers assist in a variety of jobs and are a key factor to running a smooth, safe, and successful race. From set up to tear down and everything in between the Volksläufe utilizes over 450 volunteers over the 15 mile race course. The Volksläufe is managed by a Frankenmuth Jaycee committee of 15 volunteers who annually commit to planning marketing, and hosting this annual Independence Day tradition.

The support provided to the Volksläufe by the community of Frankenmuth is one of it's greatest strengths. Residents have come to intergrade the Volksläufe into part of their Fourth of July tradition. Along the race route is is common to find whole families and neighborhoods gathered to create a large cheering section. Offering race participants everything from encouragement, to refreshing water to run through, and even music to jam to as they pass by.

Last but certainly not least are the Sponsor of the Volksläufe. With out the donations provided to this event in the forms of in-kind donation and monetary contributions this annual celebration would not be possible.

Thank you to all our participants for your time, dedication, and appreciation of this wonderful community event. In whatever way you participate the value of your support is greatly appreciated.
